Two members of the Warrenton girls basketball team earned GAC All-Conference honors. The Warriors were guard oriented during the 2012-13 season, and opposing coaches recognized the efforts of their two leading scorers. Hannah Sutton — Sophomore was named to the first team after leading the Warriors in scoring during her second season of varsity. She netted 13.3 and grabbed four rebounds per game while running the point guard position. Sutton was also responsible for 2.1 assists and connected on a team-best 56 percent of her free-throw attempts. She also shot 33 percent from beyond the arc. “We asked a lot out of Hannah, and the other coaches recognized how important she is to our team,” said Coach Barb Woodruff. “A lot of the scoring load fell on her with us not having much size. She did a good job of being a consistent offensive threat for us and distributing the ball. She’ll be a tremendous asset over the next three seasons.” Hannah Keene — Senior garnered second-team honors during her fourth season on the varsity level. She averaged 10.4 points, reigniting her offensive flair following a drop off during her sophomore and juniors seasons. Keene added 2.1 rebounds per game and connected on a team-high 56 three pointers. “She has been a big part of our team for a long time,” said Woodruff. “We haven’t had too many girls contribute over a four-year span like she did. Hannah was able to get her shot back this season and helped us have a strong outside threat. Teams had to respect her defensively and guard the perimeter.” is the second straight season that the Warriors have had two players named to the GAC teams.
