By Derrick ForsytheRecord Staff WriterThe Warrenton girls soccer program managed to place four players on the GAC All-Conference team following a 6-15-1 season. Two Warriors were named to the first team while another pair garnered second-team honors.Brittany Glazebrook — sophomore claimed first-team honors during her second year as a significant contributor on the varsity level. Glazebrook tied for a team lead with 16 points, finishing second on the team with six goals, while leading the Warriors with four assists.“Brittany was definitely a key player for us,” said Coach David Evans. “We had her in the middle to control play early in the season, but once we moved her up top she was able to contribute several goals. She’s a strong player, who plays with a lot of confidence.”Colleen Bayer — sophomore was recognized as a first-team selection after also embracing her new role as a scoring threat. She netted a team-best seven goals, amassing 16 points and adding two assists.“Colleen really became a valuable resource for us and improved a lot after playing up on her select team,” said Evans. “She had a good eye for the ball and was really able to make some things happen for us on offense.”Rachel Hertel — senior earned second-team honors after helping the Warriors control the ball in their favor much of the season.“Rachel brought tremendous leadership for us and had a lot of valuable experience she put into practice. She did a great job of controlling the game for us and helping fight for possession.”Macie Sommer — sophomore was named to the second team after serving a major role on offense for the Warriors. She scored six points, netting two goals and dishing out a pair of assists.“She did a great job of filling in at center midfield,” said Evans. “She was able to fill Brittany’s role there and distribute the ball well. Her aggressiveness really helped us out.”
