Two Warrenton men were killed in a four-vehicle crash on Interstate 70 in Wentzville Friday night, Sept. 25.
Kevin W. Hase, 26, and Jeffrey A. Jackson, 27, were both pronounced dead at the scene. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported Hase was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado westbound at 9:40 p.m. when he tried to pass a tractor-trailer on the left shoulder of the interstate.
Hase's vehicle struck the semi, crashed into the median wall and overturned before hitting a 2009 Ford Escape driven by Jeremy L. Matthews, 38, of O'Fallon.
A fourth vehicle, a 1999 Saturn SL driven by 20-year-old Latisha A. Baker, of St. Charles attempted to avoid Matthew's car and instead struck Hase's truck.
The fatal accident occurred west of Route Z. Hase and Jackson were not wearing seat belts, according to the patrol. Matthews was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
