Two Warren County residents were injured in crashes during the first significant snowfall of the season on Jan. 27, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol.
Jovincent Pena, 25, of Wright City, received minor injuries in a crash on Interstate 70 at 9:30 a.m. near the Foristell exit, according to a highway patrol report. Pena reportedly lost control of the Ford van he was driving and slid on the road, striking a tractor-trailer ahead of him that was stopped due to an earlier crash ahead.
Pena was wearing a seat belt during the crash. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.
A later crash in St. Charles County left a Warrenton resident with moderate injuries. Brittney Y. Acevedo, 35, was taken to SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital in Lake St. Louis after a crash which happened around 11:40 a.m. on I-70 near the Wentzville Parkway exit.
The Mercury Grand Marquies Acevedo was driving reportedly slid out of control, and was struck on the side by a tractor-trailer and in the rear by a dump truck, according to the highway patrol. Acevedo was wearing a seat belt. The drivers of the other two vehicles were not injured.
Two out-of-town travelers were also injured in a crash in Warren County Jan. 27. Lataisha S. Murry, 43, and a 17-year-old juvenile, both from Jefferson City, were in a 2007 Dodge Calibur that lost control and struck the concrete median in Wright City around 9:40 p.m., the highway patrol said. Their vehicle was struck by a tractor-trailer and then hit the median barrier a second time.
The highway patrol said both occupants of the vehicle sustained minor injuries. They were both wearing seat belts.
