Two people are running for one director spot on the Wright City Fire Protection District Board of Directors.The board position, being vacated by Robert Grah, is a four-year term.Below are the candidates’ profiles in the order they will appear on the ballot.Philip KeimKeim is a retired battalion chief with 45-plus years in the fire service as a paramedic, commander of the St. Louis County Hazardous Materials Task Force and eastern Missouri liaison with FBI Terrorism and Weapons of Mass Destruction.“I am running for this position because, for my 45-plus years in the fire service serving my community, there is still a strong desire to continue to serve,” he said.Keim said he has no big changes in mind for the district.“I am not looking to change things currently. In the future, when a situation presents itself, after getting all the information regarding the issue, I would support what is in the best interest of the district,” he said. “I would use my experience, training and people skills to work for the best interests of the district and the employees and people it serves.”Keim is a board director with the Missouri Golf Association and works amateur events as a golf rules official. He is a past Master of the Kirkwood Masonic Lodge and is a Shriner.His wife, Christine Keim, is a retired police officer commander.Christopher KellnerKellner, a procurement specialist for Schnuck Markets, said he’s running because he wants to participate and contribute to what’s going on in the community.“My family has grown up along with Wright City and I want to give back to the community that has given so much to my family,” he said.Kellner’s interest is in the fire district.“The department has been a great steward of the community and we need that to continue,” he said. “I want to continue the fiscal responsibility of the fire department and along with that making sure the department has the tools it needs to meet the needs of the community now and into the future.”Kellner’s wife, Jennifer, is vending and coffee cafe supervisor for the Fort Zumwalt School District.
