Spiva, 21, of Hallsville, submitted guilty pleas Feb. 6. Buchanan was charged with two counts of stealing a firearm, and Spiva was charged with one.A date has not yet been set for them to be sentenced by Warren County Presiding Judge Wes Dalton. The two were among four people arrested in possession of a stolen AK-47 rifle and a handgun May 17, 2017.At that time, police were searching for an SUV believed to be connected to a home invasion in Warrenton. Less than 10 minutes after receiving an alert to watch for the vehicle, Wright City police spotted a matching SUV exiting Interstate 70 at Wildcat Drive, police said.Police stopped the vehicle and found three males and two females inside, along with the stolen firearms. Two others charged for the thefts are De’Aunte M. Shaw, 19, and Jamel Tackett, 18, both of Columbia.Shaw was sentenced in November to five years in prison for the thefts and for charges of unlawful possession of a firearm because he had a previous felony conviction.
