Two men accused in a string of burglaries in three counties, including eight crimes in Warren County, are in custody. Paul Bruning, 21, of Silex, and Jacob Sinclair, 18, of Marthasville, have been charged with multiple counts of felony burglary, stealing and property damage.According to court documents, the men are responsible for a series of burglaries and thefts in Warren, Lincoln and St. Charles counties over a 30-day period. “The method of entry was always force, causing damage to the buildings,” said Warren County Sheriff Kevin Harrison. “Once inside, the suspects appeared to be primarily looking for money as the only items reported stolen were cash, cash registers, money boxes, and safes.”An employee at one business provided police with a description of a suspicious vehicle seen in the area of one of the burglaries. The sheriff’s department received information on Aug. 31 from the Wentzville Police Department, including descriptions of suspects and a vehicle involved in burglaries in the Wentzville area. The vehicle matched the description of the one used in the Warren County burglaries, Harrison said. Warren County detectives and deputies located the suspects and interviewed them regarding the burglaries. Investigators determined that a total of eight business burglaries were committed in Warren County by Bruning and Sinclair, including Hart’s Sport Shop, Green Gardens Nursery, Warren County Storage, all in Truesdale, Town & Country Nursery in Dutzow, AAR Auto Salvage, Thierbach Orchards, Katy Caboose, all in Marthasville, and the Faith Christian Family Church in Warrenton. Bruning also admitted to committing burglaries in Silex and Millwood, as well as stealing a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado from Silex Central Elevator on Aug. 1. Bruning later named Sinclair as his accomplice.According to court documents, Bruning told authorities that he and Sinclair later burglarized Silex Central Elevator and Silex Elevator and Trucking on Aug. 24.  Bruning also told investigators that the next day the pair burglarized the Thierbach Orchards store, according to court documents. Sinclair and Bruning took a cash register containing $125, a safe containing $2,000 and a cash box containing $200. The empty safe was later found damaged near a dam in Woodridge. Deputies recovered items from the suspects’ homes and vehicle that was stolen from Lincoln County. At press time total bonds for Bruning and Sinclair had not been assigned.
