Two Indiana teenagers sustained minor injuries in a four-vehicle crash Sunday, Aug. 23, on Interstate 70 in Wright City, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The crash happened at 12:45 p.m. at the 201.4 mile marker when all four vehicles involved in the crash were traveling eastbound in the left lane, according to the highway patrol crash report.

As the first of the four vehicles, a 2014 Jeep Patriot driven by an 18-year-old Warrenton woman, began to slow down due to traffic stopped ahead, the other three drivers behind the Patriot also attempted to stop. The driver of a 1998 Dodge Dakota, however, a 17-year-old male from Wentzville, was unable to stop in time, striking the rear of a 2022 Chevrolet Equinox in front of him.

The Equinox then struck the Patriot, which it was traveling directly behind. A 2020 Hyundai Sonata, traveling behind the Dakota and driven by a 51-year-old Frankfort, Kentucky man, was also unable to stop and struck the rear of the Dakota, according to the highway patrol.

The driver of the Equinox, a 19-year-old Evansville, Indiana man, and his passenger, a 19-year-old Evansville woman, sustained minor injuries in the crash. They were transported to SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital - Lake Saint Louis by Warren County Ambulance District personnel for treatment.

The other three drivers had no apparent injuries. Everyone involved in the crash was wearing their seat belt.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol no longer releases the names of the occupants involved in injury crashes.
