Two people were taken to area hospitals Thursday afternoon after a car crossed into the opposite lanes of traffic on Interstate 70 near Warrenton and was hit by another vehicle.One of the drivers, Belbert L. Dobbs III, 41, New Florence, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Mercy Hospital St. Louis, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The other driver, Arlene S. Payne, 71, St. Peters, had moderate injuries and was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Lake St. Louis.The crash happened at 12:40 p.m. According to a preliminary report from the highway patrol, Dobbs was driving a 1999 Plymouth Breeze eastbound between Pendleton and Warrenton. Dobbs attempted to change lanes, but the rear of his car struck the front of a tractor-trailer driving in the other eastbound lane.Dobbs lost control of the vehicle and it traveled into the center median. The Plymouth reportedly slipped under the cable barrier in the median and traveled into the westbound lanes of traffic. The vehicle was struck in the side by a 2006 Ford Fusion driven by Payne.The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.Both westbound lanes of I-70 were shut down while rescue crews aided the drivers.Crash
