By Tim SchmidtRecord Managing EditorTwo first-inning runs were enough to back the dominating pitching from Kory Schniedermeyer Friday night in the Warrenton Freshman baseball team’s first win of the season.Schniedermeyer held Pacific to three hits and struck out seven in the complete-game 2-1 victory. The strong pitching performance allowed Warrenton to break a three-game losing skid to begin the summer and improve its record to 1-3.Warrenton had several players that played well in the victory. The squad had lost 3-0 to Pacific earlier in the season. “It was a great team win,” Manager Jamey Sherman said. “We pitched great and made some terrific defensive plays.”Post 122 was also limited offensively to three hits in the contest, but managed to piece together two of the hits in the bottom of the first inning to grab an early lead.Warrenton received run-scoring hits from Mitch Burnette and Braden Lawson in the frame. Burnette also added a second hit in the game, completing a 2-for-2 showing at the plate.Lawson also had a strong game behind the plate. The catcher picked off two runners and threw out another attempting to steal second. The early run support was enough for Schniedermeyer, who allowed Pacific’s lone run in the top half of the second. He then followed with five scoreless innings.“It was a dominating pitching performance,” Sherman said.Post 122 was scheduled to host New Haven Wednesday and returns home Thursday against St. Peters. Game time is 6 p.m. Warrenton will play at St. Peters Sunday at 2 p.m.Mitch Burnette
