Two county gravel roads will be paved this year under the new budget recently adopted by Warren County commissioners.County officials have allocated around $500,000 to pave Fruit Farm Road and a portion of Dry Fork Road. Both improvements are being funded through a half-cent sales tax dedicated for road maintenance.Fruit Farm Road is located outside of Wright City and runs between Highway F and M. The road has seen traffic increase in recent years after Roelker Road was paved.“We did a road count on Highway M and it dawned on us motorists are using Roelker,” Southern District Commissioner Hubie Kluesner said.A two-mile stretch of Dry Fork Road beginning at Highway N will be paved. The road is between Warrenton and Marthasville.The county projects to receive close to $1 million this year through a portion of the sales tax. Seventy percent of sales tax receipts go toward road maintenance, while the remaining 30 percent is allocated for capital improvements.Last year, roads that were converted from gravel to asphalt were Pendleton Lost Creek, Ranch Road, Glen Road, Hickory Lick and South Rock Church Road.An asphalt overlay is planned on South Stringtown Road, located southeast of Wright City. Commissioners said they are working to identify other roads that will be improved.Two bridge projects are planned this year. New bridges on Massas Creek Road and Lost Creek Road will replace concrete slabs. The county has budgeted $750,000 for the work, slightly higher than in 2015 due to design changes.“We’re still working with landowners in the area,” Kluesner said.Funds from MoDOT’s bridge replacement and rehabilitation program (BRO) will pay for 80 percent of the bridge projects, with the remaining 20 percent to be the county’s responsibility.Pave
