Turning Point has received a $2,500 grant from Grow Communities.
Grow Communities is part of a larger initiative, America’s Farmers, sponsored by the Monsanto Fund. It supports rural communities by offering farmers across the country the chance to win a $2,500 donation to give to a nonprofit organization of their choice in their community.
The purpose is to invest in organizations that strengthen and support farming communities.
Terry and Debbie Hinrichs, Marthasville, applied for the grant to give to Turning Point.
Turning Point was chosen by the Hinrichses to promote community awareness of the shelter, provide needed resources, and supply educational information to further promote the support of the program by the communities being served.
America’s Farmers Grow Communities grants have helped feed the hungry, purchase lifesaving equipment for fire protection districts, support ag youth programs, buy classroom resources and more.
America’s Farmers Grow Communities is sponsored by the Monsanto Fund. Since 2010, more than $29 million has been donated to over 8,000 organizations across rural America. In 2018, farmers directed another $3.3 million to farm communities and the causes that mean the most to them. To learn more, visit America’s Farmers at www.AmericasFarmers.com.
Turning Point serves individuals and families in Franklin, Gasconade, Lincoln, Montgomery, Warren and western St. Charles counties. Turning Point’s goal is to help survivors and their children learn to overcome the cycle of abuse.
The nonprofit organization provides a 24/7 hotline, emergency shelter, court advocacy, safety planning, economic empowerment, counseling and resource education to victims of domestic violence, sexual abuse and sex trafficking. In 2017 Turning Point provided services to 330 people and answered 527 hotline calls.
