Warren County commissioners welcomed representatives of Turning Point Advocacy Services to announce the approval of an expansion and improvement project at the nonprofit’s facilities in Warren County.The project will allow the organization to provide emergency shelter to more people who need it.Chad Eggen, executive director of Boonslick Regional Planning Commission, announced the selection of Engineering Services & Surveys (ES&S) as the professional engineering company.ES&S will oversee the wastewater system improvements and the construction of an expansion to the domestic violence shelter. Ross Kasman, ES&S president, and Dan Rahn, project manager, represented the company at the announcement.ES&S provides civil engineering, land surveying, construction support and analytical testing services throughout mid-Missouri. The company has offices in Columbia, Jefferson City, Sedalia and Wildwood.The project is possible because of a successful application for a Community Development Block Grant.Turning Point expressed appreciation for the support of the Warren County Commission and assistance from the Boonslick Regional Planning Commission in applying for the grant.“Every year, we strive to improve access, programming and education,” said Laura Adams, Turning Point board chairman.“Thank you for recognizing and championing Turning Point’s value as a service resource to Warren County and the region.”Turning Point Advocacy Services provides emergency shelter, court advocacy, a 24/7 hotline, safety planning, and many programs to foster personal well-being and self-sufficiency. The shelter accepts survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking.Oftentimes, children and pets accompany the primary victim into shelter. Many clients are served off-premises, benefiting from safety planning, counseling and court advocacy.Turning Point serves Franklin, Gasconade, Lincoln, Montgomery, western St. Charles and Warren counties.To reach a trained staff person at the hotline, dial 888-873-7233.
