Record Managing EditorA Truesdale waterline extension project will be completed much cheaper than initially estimated.Aldermen recently awarded a bid for $41,944 to CJN Products to extend the waterline on North Water Street. It was the lowest of seven bids.All four aldermen voted in support of moving forward with the project at their Nov. 4 meeting.The engineer’s estimate for the project was $63,970.Truesdale officials were pleased with the bid results, noting that a lengthier project time line probably helped with the low cost.“It might get started before the end of the year, but we gave them plenty of time to do it,” Administrator/City Clerk Mary Lou Rainwater said.CJN Productions will have 120 days to complete the project. However, calendar days in January and February will not be included.Other bids were submitted by Mick Mehler and Sons ($58,413), Eckelkamp Trucking and Excavating ($61,891.15), MB Construction ($63,674), Heggemann Plumbing ($71,934.61), St. Charles County Piping ($83,789.98) and Lame Trenching and Excavating ($136,600.75).In other news• Aldermen awarded a tree removal contract to John’s Tree Service for $325, the lowest of three received. The bid was passed by a 3-0 vote, with Alderman Donald McGee abstaining due to a conflict of interest. Other bids were submitted by Action Tree Service ($375) and 5 Star Care ($500).Prior to approval, the board had to rescind a previous motion approving the bid at the Oct. 28 meeting where McGee had voted in support of the low bid. At that meeting, only three aldermen were present.• A business license was issued for All About Signs and Shirts, who purchased Hart’s Sport Shop. It was announced the business will be relocating to a new location near the outlet mall in Warrenton.Oct. 28 meeting• Approval was given to allow Eagle Scout candidate Cordell Bachamp to construct a message board for the city. The project will consist of a double-sided 10-foot-tall, 40-inch wide sign that can be used by both the city and the public. The estimated cost will be between $500 and $1,000. The proposed project still needs approval from the Eagle Scout Board.• A business license was approved for Wolford Automotive to open at 1200 E. Veterans Memorial Parkway. The new business plans to open by Jan. 1.• An ordinance finalizing a contract between the city and Blue Valley Public Safety Inc. for siren maintenance was adopted.• A temporary liquor license was issued to Lost Creek Vineyard for an event held at Gastorf Chevrolet on Nov. 5.Truesdale
