Record Managing EditorTruesdale will hold a public meeting next month to discuss ways to relieve the parking congestion in the Dieckmann Farms subdivision.Currently, parking is allowed on both sides of the streets and it makes it difficult to access for emergency vehicles and snowplows. Residents in the area also said they have trouble getting in and out of their driveways because of numerous cars parked on the streets. The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 2, at city hall.Property owners and renters of homes on Juni Way and Dieckmann Farms will be invited to attend. Representatives of the Warren County Ambulance District and Warrenton Fire Protection District are expected to be in attendance.“This has been mentioned several times the last couple of years and the board decided to give the public an opportunity to talk and see what the situation is,” City Administrator/Clerk Mary Lou Rainwater said. The city could prohibit parking on both sides of the subdivision streets, or allow parking on only one side. One idea suggested at the July 29 board of aldermen meeting was restricting parking from Nov. 1-March 31 for snow removal purposes.“Nothing has been decided, but we have several choices,” Rainwater said.In other news• Also at the July 22 meeting, the city will award a $23,051 contract to expand the salt shed, a project that came in much higher than anticipated. The project was unanimously awarded to Eckelkamp Trucking and Excavating, Wright City. The only other bid was submitted by T.S. Banze, Wentzville, for $24,950. The city had $12,000 allocated for the project, but will use reserves in the miscellaneous expenses account to cover the shortfall.• The board discussed several concerns related to Warrenton developing property it owns on Pinckney Street, across from Rebecca Boone Elementary, as a possible site for a new pool and other recreational activities. Some of the issues raised were traffic, street maintenance and police patrol. The property was formerly owned by Warrenton’s Industrial Development Authority (IDA) with the intent for it to be developed as a light industrial site. Ownership was transferred to Warrenton in 2014.• The board was informed four new home permits have been issued so far for 2015, all located in the Heritage Hills subdivision. Two permits were issued in 2014 and only one in 2013.• A request to close multiple streets for the fourth annual Slim’s Journey 5K run/walk scheduled for Sept. 12 was approved. The streets that will be affected are Highway M, West Street, South Street and Pinckney Street.• An ordinance establishing procedures for municipal officials to follow related to potential conflicts of interest was unanimously approved.Truesdale
