By Janine DavisRecord Staff WriterTruesdale residents will see a decrease in their monthly trash bills as soon as the city begins a five-year contract with a new vendor for 2014-2018.The winning bid, from Christian Environmental Services, was the lowest of four competitive bids for monthly individual trash service.Monthly charges for individual pickup by year will be: $10.25 (2014), $10.50 (2015), $10.75 (2016), $11 (2017) and $11.25 (2018).“This is a nice price break for our citizens who are currently paying $11.75 a month for service,” said City Clerk MaryLou Rainwater.Current service is provided by Grace Hauling, which did not bid on a new contract.The next lowest bidder was Wilson Waste, which quoted rates ranging from 50 cents to 85 cents higher than Christian Environmental Services for the five-year period.The city will be reimbursed 3 percent, or 32 cents per customer, by the vendor for administration of billing and fee collection, said Rainwater.Christian Environmental Service’s bid also included free services for citywide cleanup days in the spring and fall. Wilson Waste’s bid also included free cleanup days, but other vendors, On the Go Hauling and Waste Management, proposed either per-yard charges or hourly rates.The contract also includes recycling pickups at $3.50 per month-per-household that includes a free 18 gallon bin or 65- or 95-gallon cart.
