Truesdale finalizes NID for Elkhorn Ridge subdivision

Posted

Truesdale aldermen last week approved issuing $3.3 million in bonds as part of plans to create a neighborhood improvement district for the Elkhorn Ridge subdivision.

All four aldermen voted in favor of the ordinance at their March 13 meeting.

The new taxing district encompasses the Elkhorn Ridge subdivision, which is currently under construction by T.R. Hughes and will feature 190 houses when complete. It is located along Veterans Memorial Parkway, west of Faith Christian Family Church.

A special assessment tax will be collected on all properties within the subdivision. The tax will expire after 20 years, or sooner if the loan is paid off ahead of time. The funds are being used to help pay for infrastructure improvements for the subdivision.

No Truesdale resident located outside of the new development will be charged the additional tax.

The neighborhood improvement district is the first in Truesdale.

More P&Z members sought

Truesdale is seeking more residents to join its planning and zoning commission. The advisory board meets at 6 p.m. on the third Wednesday of every month at city hall.

Currently, the planning and zoning board is comprised of eight members, City Clerk Elsa Smith-Fernandez said. The city would like to add a couple more who are interested in serving their community.

“We’re working on the comprehensive plan, so it’s a good time to get in,” Smith-Fernandez said.

Residents who are interested can contact city hall at 636-456-3166.
