The Truesdale Board of Aldermen approved the purchase of a 2026 Chevy Silverado during their Feb. 25 meeting to replace a city vehicle totaled in an accident in October 2025.
The board approved purchasing the vehicle from Don Brown Chevrolet for the state-bid price of $49,281.
During the board’s Feb. 11 meeting, the aldermen had discussed seeking a local bid from a company such as Gastorf Chevrolet. At that meeting they instructed City Administrator Elsa Smith-Fernandez to reach out to Gastorf regarding a potential local bid.
During their Feb. 25 meeting, Public Works Director Steve Harlan said that to purchase from Gastorf, the vehicle would cost approximately $20,000 more than the state-bid price and would take longer to receive. The board then voted 4-0 to approve the purchase from Don Brown.
Smith-Fernandez also told the board that the city had received an additional payment for the totaled 2024 Chevy Silverado in the amount of $8,183.28. The city had previously received a check for $49,817 to cover the cost of the loss of the vehicle.
Harlan also told the board that he needs to purchase more water meters for the city. The board approved the purchase of 90 additional water meters at a cost of $27,895.50 from Schulte Supply.
The board also approved the rezoning of a property located at 200 Pinckney Street from R-1 to C-2 and approving a conditional use permit for that same location to allow for a self-storage facility on the property.
The board also approved a business license for A&A Towing to be located at 1730 Daniel Boone Industrial Parkway, the old Patriot Towing location.
