The Truesdale Board of Aldermen unanimously approved their annual property and liability insurance agreement with Star Insurance Company for a cost of $67,854, a 12.5 percent increase.
Tri-County Agency representative Evan Costello told the board the premium increase was due to several factors. One was the city added an additional pickup truck last year. There were also some additional premium costs due to insurance for a drone the city has, which was not reflected last year. Costello said the rest of the premium increase is due to property rates increasing.
The board also discussed with Police Chief Casey Doyle a project he said he has been working on with the Wright City Police Department called the Crime Reduction Task Force.
Doyle said in years past when there was a search warrant or high-risk arrest, departments would call other departments and throw together whatever officers were available. He said more recently officers with Truesdale and Wright City have been working together, with many of the same officers participating when serving search warrants. He said the goal is to solidify this group as a formal team with a mandated training schedule.
Doyle said each department would fund their own training and equipment.
Doyle added that entering into an agreement with Wright City would also help Truesdale meet one of the criteria for the Governor’s Blue Shield Initiative, namely being part of multijurisdictional task forces.
The board also approved several invoices including the following: Oakley Fertilizer, Inc. in the amount of $2,045.60; Roger Busch Trucking, LLC in the amount of $357.98; Utility Service Co. Inc. for semi-annual well inspection, in the amount of $6,902.07; and Blue Valley Public Safety for the maintenance of the outdoor warning siren in the amount of $936.
