The Truesdale Board of Aldermen banned all parking on Bolm Lane citing concerns about access for emergency vehicles and snow removal equipment at its Feb. 22 meeting. The narrow neighborhood street was the subject of discussion as early as 2015 when the board invited residents of the Dieckmann Farms and Boone Hollow Estates subdivisions for a public meeting.“We had changed a lot of parking configurations because the roads are so narrow,” Mayor Murray Bruer said. “We were concerned about emergency equipment from the fire department, police and ambulance getting between parked cars.”There wasn’t a consensus among residents about what should be done about parking, so the board of aldermen banned parking on both sides of the road, Bruer said.He added that the primary concern is the section of Bolm between Wabash Street and Smith Street, which is especially narrow.Truesdale is served by the Warrenton Fire Protection District.“Fire trucks and ambulances aren’t getting any smaller,” Fire Chief Mike Owenby said. “When there’s parking on both sides of (narrow) streets, we just can’t get trucks through there.”Owenby said he couldn’t remember specifically having trouble with Bolm, but that he has been working with Truesdale and Warrenton to address issues with narrow streets. The Truesdale Board of Aldermen meets on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month, 5:30 p.m. at Truesdale City Hall. The next meeting is March 8.No parking
