Truesdale aldermen amend zoning, adult business code

Posted

The Truesdale Board of Aldermen unanimously approved two ordinances last Wednesday during their regularly scheduled meeting amending their adult business code and zoning ordinances.

City Manager/City Clerk Elsa Smith-Fernandez said during a public hearing on the proposed ordinances that the majority of the changes were to words and definitions for more clarification as well as some more detailed changes to the adult business portion of the municipal code.

There was a section added to the adult business portion of the code relating to adult photography, film or digital content production facilities, that effectively states that any structure used for filming specified sexual activities may not be open to the public and anyone involved in the business may not live within the facilities. Also no content may be sold at the facility. There was also a section added to the code that states that such businesses may be located in C-2 or I-1 industrial districts.

During the meeting, Police Chief Casey Doyle said the department took possession of the second Ford 150 Responder and the cost for that vehicle is $53,915. The board approved payment for the vehicle. Doyle said the department will have to wait three to four weeks for the outfitting of equipment on the new vehicle.

Doyle also discussed what to do with the department’s 2014 Dodge Charger. Doyle said the vehicle has about 90,000 miles and noted that with used car prices being higher at the moment they may be able to sell the vehicle to another department on GovDeals.com.

Mayor Jerry Cannon said he could see some value in keeping the vehicle for use by city hall staff. Alderman Joseph Brooks said he was concerned about issues the city has faced with the vehicle. Doyle said the vehicle was purchased used and in a short amount of time the vehicle had a new engine put in. Doyle said he has been driving the vehicle for over the year and he hadn’t noticed any issues with the exception of a problem with the air conditioning, but he said he felt the vehicle still would last a while.

The board discussed possibly checking insurance costs as well as the possible value of selling the vehicle, but no formal decision was made during the meeting.

Doyle also said that the Missouri Department of Transportation has put out preliminary information regarding contract work zone security for work along the I-70 corridor. Doyle said he was still awaiting further information to determine if the proposed work makes sense for the department.
