People throughout St. Charles, Lincoln and Warren counties have once again demonstrated their generosity and caring by raising $3,050,661 for the 2014 fundraising campaign to help their neighbors and strengthen their community. The Tri-County Region of United Way of Greater St. Louis celebrated its campaign victory along with other divisions at Ballpark Village in November. This year, many companies, agencies, unions, schools, and individuals joined together to surpass the Tri-County goal of $3.05 million to help local people.“I want to thank everyone who helped United Way reach and surpass our goal. In order for United Way to reach the goal, it takes a lot of people committed to this community and helping others. I’m pleased to have worked with so many wonderful supporters in the area who made this possible,” said Ron Chesbrough, United Way’s Tri-County Region 2014 campaign chair and president of St. Charles Community College.Overall, United Way of Greater St. Louis raised a total of $73,000,075 for the 2014 campaign.“It’s really inspiring to know that we live in a community that is willing to step up to the plate to help people in need, no matter the circumstance,” said Scott Schnuck, 2014 campaign chair for United Way of Greater St. Louis and chairman of the board at Schnuck Markets, Inc. “This year, we witnessed an outpouring of generosity from everyone in our region — on both sides of the river, from our labor unions, from companies big and small, and households in 16 counties — to make this campaign successful. I thank everyone for their contributions, large and small, to help local families live better.”Chesbrough is pleased the Tri-County Region followed suit.“We knew going into this campaign that it was going to be a tough year, but this community continues to overcome those obstacles with the goal in mind of helping people live their best possible lives,” he said. “A strong campaign team, featuring Don Kalicak as vicechair and cabinet members Mike Borgna, Curtis Cain, Kyle Gaines, Mary Hutchinson, Denise Liebel, Kris Weidenbenner, Mark Penny, Paul Johnson and Chico Humes enabled us to reach out to campaigns across the Tri-County Region to exceed our goal.”More than 2,500 companies ran campaigns and more than 150,000 individuals contributed to United Way’s overall campaign success in the 16-county region of Missouri and Illinois.United Way
