Tractor-trailers crash on I-70; Interstate closed for six hours

A crash early Tuesday morning involving two tractor-trailers on Interstate 70 in Foristell had both westbound lanes of the highway closed for hours.The crash occurred before 2:30 a.m. when one truck drifted off the left side of the road, according to a Missouri Highway Patrol preliminary report. The truck was hauling a load of tires.The driver, Yacouba Sidibe, 37, of Austin, Texas, overcorrected to return to the road, causing the tractor-trailer to roll on its side, the patrol said. The second truck, driven by Jimmy Buchholtz, 59, of Steedman, Mo., collided with the overturned trailer unit.Logs being hauled by Buch-oltz’s truck spilled off the trailer onto the interstate, along with pallets of tires from Sidibe’s truck.Both lanes of westbound I-70 were shut down for much of the morning and traffic was routed to the Highway T/W exit in Foristell while crews worked to clear the wreck. The tractor-trailers were removed from the interstate before 9 a.m.Buchholtz had minor injuries. He was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Lake St. Louis by Warren County Ambulance. No serious injuries were reported in the crash.
