Three teenagers were injured Wednesday, Aug. 12, in a rollover crash in Lincoln County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, including the 16-year-old Wright City girl who was driving and a 13-year-old boy and 15-year-old girl from Troy who were seriously injured.
The crash happened at 3:50 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 47 and Hickory Hill Drive, according to the MSHP crash report. The 16-year-old driver, traveling northbound and going too fast for conditions in a 2013 Nissan Maxima, failed to negotiate a curve, went off the right side of the road, and overturned.
The car continued to overturn, striking a telephone pole, according to the crash report. While the driver, who was wearing a seat belt, sustained only minor injuries, the two passengers, who were not wearing seat belts, were seriously injured.
The driver and the 15-year-old girl were transported by Lincoln County Ambulance DIstrict personnel to SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital - Lake St. Louis, while the 13-year-old boy was taken to St. Louis Children's Hospital. The vehicle was totaled.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol no longer releases the names of the occupants involved in injury crashes.
