Three seats up for election at Warren County Senior Center

The Warren County Council on Aging, which operates the Warren County Senior Center, is holding board elections from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, May 22, at its center at 501 Ashland St. in Warrenton.Anyone in Warren County can vote, and anyone in the county may run for election.Interested individuals should complete a letter of intent form at the Warren County Senior Center by Friday, May 19. Executive Director Lindsey Polston said the form is a questionnaire to give voters an idea of who the candidates are.“It gives insight on what they can bring to the board,” she said. “Everyone who fills out the intent forms will be included on the ballot.”Seats that belong to Allan Dreyer, Jim Brown and Laura Schneider are up for election. The board, in total, is comprised of nine individuals who are elected to three-year terms. They meet monthly at the Warren County Senior Center at 9 a.m. on the fourth Thursday.Polson said their primary responsibilities are to support operations at the Warren County Senior Center. They lead fundraising efforts and work with the executive director to ensure the organization’s success.The organization’s mission is to assist the elderly in maintaining or improving their independence; minimize their need for institutional care; and safeguard against potential abuse or neglect by providing friendship, education and nutritionally balanced, hot meals.The Warren County Senior Center is open to clients for meals, activities and assistance weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Volunteers serve and deliver meals.The organization has four paid employees.
