Three people were injured in rear-end crashes involving seven vehicles on Interstate 70 in Warren County on Friday, July 17, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
A 30-year-old Kansas City, Missouri woman and a 76-year-old Mission Hills, Kansas woman sustained minor injuries in a crash involving four vehicles at 7 p.m. on I-70 west of David Hoekel Parkway, according to a highway patrol crash report. An 18-year-old Jefferson City man also sustained minor injuries in a three-vehicle crash at the same time and location, according to the MSHP, although this was reported as a separate incident.
In the four-vehicle crash, a 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe driven by a 71-year-old Ballwin woman rear-ended the 2024 Toyota RAV4 driven by the Kansas City woman who was injured, which then struck the rear of a 2019 Ford Expedition driven by a 57-year-old Lake St. Louis man, which struck a 2022 Cadillac CT5 driven by a 63-year-old Shawnee, Kansas man. The 76-year-old woman who was injured was a passenger in the Expedition, according to the crash report.
In the three-vehicle crash, a 2024 Ford F350 driven by a 25-year-old Detroit, Michigan man failed to yield and struck the rear of a 2025 Ford Explorer driven by a 56-year-old Jefferson City man. A 2022 Dodge Ram driven by a 41-year-old O’Fallon man then struck the trailer the F350 was towing, according to the crash report. The 18-year-old man who was injured was a passenger in the Explorer.
All three people injured in the crashes were wearing seat belts, according to the MSHP. Damage to the vehicles involved ranged from minor to extensive.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol no longer releases the names of the occupants involved in injury crashes.
