A St. Charles man is in custody for the theft of more than $3,300 worth of tools and equipment from a garage near Warrenton.Robert L. Yount, 43, was arrested Nov. 30, accused of burglarizing and stealing the equipment from a location on Veterans Memorial Parkway just west of Warrenton, according to the Warren County Sheriff’s Department. The burglary was reported Nov. 21 and may have happened up to two days prior, an arrest report states. The owner of the building told deputies glass was broken from a door and several items had been taken. The stolen property included welding and cutting equipment, a 4-ton floor jack, a toolbox with $500 worth of tools, a gas generator, and other equipment.A camera inside the building provided images of a male suspect, investigators said. A sheriff’s deputy who later viewed the photographs identified Yount as the suspect based on a traffic stop that happened Nov. 19, two days before the burglary. The arrest report states Yount was wearing the same clothing when he was pulled over, and has the same physical features, as the person caught on camera during the burglary. When Yount was arrested Nov. 30, he was wearing a pair of glasses that he allegedly was also wearing during the burglary.Yount is charged with second-degree burglary and stealing $750 or more. He is in custody at the Warren County Jail under a $10,000 bond. He has an arraignment scheduled for Dec. 19 in Warren County Circuit Court.Arrest
