Election Day decisions are over, but the winner of the First State Community Bank Community KickStart Award is still a week away from being announced.After several weeks of voting, four finalists have been selected. The top winner and runners up will be recognized at the bank Nov. 17. Each person who voted was entered into a drawing to win an iPad mini. The winner of the iPad mini will be announced, too. All contestants must be present to receive their awards.Here are the finalists:Concerned Citizens for Animal Control (CCAC) of Warren County is a volunteer group whose mission is to raise money to build and operate a shelter for homeless and abandoned pets of Warren County. The shelter will ensure that these animals are healthy, spayed and neutered before trying to find them a forever home.The group plans to offer spay and neuter programs, dog training, volunteer opportunities and educational programs to schools and the community. CCAC already owns 3 acres of land about four miles west of Warrenton. Next they plan to raise $100,000 by the end of 2018. The KickStart prize would go toward that goal.The Animal Welfare Association helps abandoned animals get adopted. The group maintains an adoption phone line to assist anyone in need, answer pet questions, make referrals to rescue groups, assist owners in finding lost pets and help potential adopters find the perfect pet.Jordan’s Place Teen Center is a community gathering facility providing positive alternative activities for youth. Its mission is to provide a safe place for youth to socialize in a supervised environments, and meet other needs.The facility offers billiards, pingpong, foosball, a cafe, lounge, study area, access to group outings and a clothing pantry. Membership is free and funding is provided by donations and grants.Jordan’s Place needs funding to cover rent and maintenance, purchase wireless cameras, computers for the study room and a pull-down screen and microphone for movies and presentations.Strong Tower Ranch offers therapeutic horsemanship programs and day camps. The group’s priority is to help those who are at-risk , less fortunate or dealing with tragic circumstances, and give them tools to better navigate through life’s challenges and become a positive influence in the world around them. The organization strives to incorporate Christian principles and offer clients a sense of accomplishment, self-worth, and in the horsemanship programs, a very willing, giant-nosed partner to connect with and learn valuable life skills with.Programs at Strong Tower Ranch run year-round. One its goals has been to provide free services, which it plans to offer with additional funding. It will also help with the upkeep of the property and buildings and continuous care of the horses that make the program special.FSCB KickStart
