The Child Advocacy Center of Northeast Missouri (CAC) is incredibly excited to welcome a second facility dog to their agency thanks to CHAMP Assistance Dogs.
Facility dogs receive the same rigorous training as service dogs and can serve hundreds of children every year. York will be working closely with The CAC’s Forensic Services Department providing comfort to children during forensic interviews, helping them feel safe as they disclose abuse, and providing them support to emotionally regulate.
“The Child Advocacy Center is honored to welcome York as our second Facility Dog and are so grateful for our partnership with CHAMP who made it possible,” says Julie Seymore, Executive Director, who leads the organization’s efforts in responding to child abuse. “York represents another important step in our commitment to creating a safe, comforting, and healing environment for the children and families we serve. His calming presence can help reduce anxiety, provide emotional support during difficult moments, and makes the disclosure process feel a little less intimidating for children who have experienced abuse. We are proud to have York as a valued member of our team, helping bring hope, healing, and comfort to everyone who walks through our doors.”
