Mud Run Guide, the world’s largest website for obstacle and adventure events, will hold its first annual “Summer Splash” at The Battlegrounds, which is St. Louis’ largest permanent mud run obstacle course.The all-day event will be held on Sunday, July 19, from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. at 950 State Highway 00 in Wright City next to Cedar Lake Cellars winery.This is the first time in The Battlegrounds’ history that racers under 18 years old are allowed to experience the course, which features more than 30 military-themed obstacles for those who want to test their physical and mental abilities.Deemed the “lollapalooza of mud runs,” the “Summer Splash” will include three 5K fun run waves.An Obstacle Course Racing World Championships’ qualifying wave for those 13 years of age and older will begin at 8:30 a.m. The top 25 men and women will be allowed to participate at the World Championships in Ohio on Oct. 17-18.An adult wave for those 18 years of age and older will begin at 9 a.m.A family-friendly wave for those 8 years of age and older starts at 10 a.m. Children under 14 years old must be accompanied by an adult throughout the course. Those 12 years and under must have their own life jacket to wear on water-related obstacles.Other activities include a family foam fest fun area for all ages from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. An obstacle challenge at the Gauntlet, which consists of six lanes of varying difficulties situated over an 8-foot deep water pit, will take place at noon.The event will feature live music, as well as contests for best mud run costumes and additional obstacle challenges.The race costs $60 per person before July 18, and $75 the day of the race.Non-racer admission for the family foam fest fun is $10 per person with children under 8 free of charge.
