The Battlegrounds Adds Four New Obstacles

Posted
The Battlegrounds, St. Louis’ largest permanent mud run obstacle course, recently added four new obstacles to its race.  The challenges are designed to test the strength and skill of its runners. The obstacles include the Perilous Pontoon Bridge, where racers try to run across more than 100 yards of floating foam pads placed atop a six-foot-deep lake.  The Ground Pounder experience has runners crawling on their bellies for 250 feet while avoiding the barbed wire hanging two feet above them.  The Trench ‘n Clench, which has runners crouching down in a two-foot deep water-filled trench, allows only the person’s head to remain out of water thanks to a low hanging chain link fence.  The Lumberjack involves a 15 pound log to be carried approximately 200 yards both up and down a mountainous slope. The sixth bi-annual race is set for Sat., May 2 beginning at 8 a.m.  Runners can select either a 5k/3.2-mile or a five-mile mud run where they will experience the demands of more than 30 military-themed obstacles for those who want to test their physical and mental abilities.  The Battlegrounds is located at 950 State Highway 00 in Wright City, Mo. next to Cedar Lake Cellars winery and event venue. The Battlegrounds also is teaming up with The BackStoppers and Operation Food Search.  Proceeds will benefit The BackStoppers, a non-profit organization founded in 1959 to support the families of fallen heroes in the greater St. Louis region.  The Battlegrounds will work with Funds2Orgs.com to collect and donate racer’s shoes with proceeds benefitting The BackStoppers.  Operation Food Search, which is the largest distributor of free food in the bi-state area, will hold a canned food drive.  All participants must be 18 years of age or older.  The race costs $120 before April 17, $140 before April 30, and $160 for May 1 and 2.  Groups of five or more are highly encouraged to register, and VIP upgrade options are available to all.  For more information, call (314) 569-3005 or visit the website at www.thebattlegrounds.com.

A recent racer enjoying all The Battlegrounds offers.
