To The Editor: On June 21 the Wentzville Fire Protection District responded to a working fire at Allen Tree Service on West Pearce. Wright City Fire Protection District also responded as a mutual aid assist to our department. Wright City responded with its Engine Company 9714 and its Tanker 9713. A tanker carries extra water. Wentzville FPD tanker was not available at the time of this fire. While responding to this incident, it was clear by the large column of black smoke that we had a working commercial fire in an area that did not have fire hydrants. Wright City FPD, because of hiring additional firefighters, had the staffing at their Station One to immediately respond with a fire engine and its tanker.Wentzville FPD was able to do a quick knockdown on the fire with its fire apparatus and was quickly backed up with additional water using the Wright City FPD tanker. If we did not have the water supplied by Wright City FPD tanker immediately available, we would have had a greater property fire loss. Our departments work together to help each other deal with these types of incidents. Having the available firefighters in their stations for immediate response saves lives, property and our environment.Stopping the fire quickly on the property of Allen’s Tree Service kept its employees safe and working.Thank you, Wright City Fire Protection District, for your quick response.Mike Marlo,Fire ChiefWentzville Fire Protection District
