Terry Edward Schreck passed from this life on Thursday, April 21, 2022, at the age of 76, at his home outside of Olean, NY.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, George and Margie Schreck; and his son, Chris Schreck. He is survived by his wife, Ronnie, of Olean; his brother, Guy, of Warrenton; daughters, Chantell (David) Geels of Coos Bay, OR, Kim (Troy Brenneman) Pauly of Olean, and Penny (Chris) Chapman of Goose Creek, SC; daughter-in-law, Tammy Schreck, of Barnhart, MO; grandchildren, Dakota Miranda, James (Brittany) Miranda, Ravyn (Jake Miller) Miranda, Chelsea Pauly, Skyla Chapman, Dylan Chapman, Baker Schreck and Lola Schreck; first cousins, Murrill (Beverly) Wohler of Marthasville and Fred Backs of Phoenix, AZ; and sister-in-law, Betty Cousins, of Olean.
Terry was baptized at Friedens United Church of Christ in Warrenton under the watchful eyes of his Godmothers, Virginia Backs and Bernice Wohler. He was also confirmed into the Christian faith at Friedens. After graduating from Warrenton High School in 1964, he joined the United States Marine Corps where he served for four years and included a tour of duty in Vietnam.
Once out of the Marines, Terry used the electrical engineering skills he learned in the Marines to work his way through a variety of Warrenton companies before making his way to Houston, TX, where he designed and built electrical panels for the oil industry at Dressler Industries. He eventually was transferred to Dressler's Olean, NY, plant where he worked until his retirement.
Terry loved the beauty of New York's Allegheny Mountains where he and Ronnie resided. Once he retired, they loved traveling the country in their RV. When the snow began falling in New York, they'd make their annual trip to Florida where they'd spend the winter. In the spring, they'd leave Florida and head to Oregon where just off the Pacific Coast Highway 101, they'd set up camp in the driveway of Terry's daughter, Chantell, for the rest of each spring where they would enjoy spending time with their west coast family.
Services remembering Terry were private, and a celebration of his life will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to either Homecare or Hospice, 1225 West State Street, Olean, NY 14760; or the American Cancer Society. Additional information can be found at guentherfh.com.
