A former Truesdale resident is accused of stealing or damaging over $8,000 worth of fixtures from a residence the day before she was evicted.
Michelle R. Jackson, 34, is charged with stealing $750 or more and first-degree property damage, both of which are felonies.
Jackson and another person were served a court-ordered eviction from a house on Conrad Circle in Truesdale April 15, according to police. When the property owner served the eviction order, he noticed that dozens of fixtures and appliances were damaged or missing.
The list of items damaged or stolen included doors, shelving, electrical covers, smoke detectors, 30 light bulbs, a wooden banister handrail, light fixtures, window screens, several large appliances and a sump pump. The garage door, linoleum, fireplace brick and drywall were also mentioned among the damages.
The value of property damaged was over $3,700, and the worth of property stolen was more than $4,400, according to police.
Jackson was located April 20 at her current address on Golden Vicary Drive in Warrenton. Police reportedly recovered light fixtures there which had been stolen from the house in Truesdale.
Eight days later, police returned with a search warrant and pulled off window screens attached to the home’s outside windows, as well as seizing metal shelving found in the master bedroom and a sump pump from under the kitchen sink. All the items are alleged to have been taken from the house in Truesdale.
Police said Jackson admitted to “destroying” the home, stating that the day before being evicted, she stole the items and either transported them to Warrenton, threw them in the trash or scrapped the items for recycling.
