A 13-year-old Warrenton boy was struck by a vehicle while trying to cross Interstate 70 in Warrenton early Saturday morning.Around 12:30 a.m., a group of young people were trying to cross the interstate near Highway 47 without using the highway overpass, said Warren County Ambulance Administrator Ralph Hellebusch.While crossing from the north side of the interstate to the south side, one of the minors was hit by a vehicle on the eastbound ramp from Highway 47 onto I-70.Hellebusch said the 13 year old described being hit in the right leg while trying to jump out of the way of the vehicle. Paramedics at the scene noted an injury and swelling in the boy’s ankle, as well as various abrasions and cuts.The injuries did not appear to be serious, Hellebusch added. The boy was taken by ambulance to St. Joseph Hospital in Lake St. Louis.The driver involved in the incident continued driving and was not identified, according to a preliminary report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
