Taxpayers have a dwindling number of days to take care of their bills by the end of the year. Tax payments must be turned in to the Warren County Collector’s Office or postmarked in the mail by Dec. 31 to avoid owing a penalty.
Collector Julie Schaumberg offered this advice to ensure your tax payment is processed on time and without issue:
• If submitting a check in-person, use the drop box to the right of the front door of the County Administration Building.
• Put a working phone number on all checks, along with the bill number you are paying.
• If you didn’t receive a tax bill, don’t wait until the last minute to contact the collector’s office. You might not have filled out an assessment form for your property.
• Double check with your lender on any recent real estate transactions to verify who is paying the tax bill.
“We will do our best during the last week to answer any questions and phone calls that come in, but that week is about collecting the payments,” Schaumberg said. “Again, please do not wail till the last minute. The drop box will close at midnight on Dec. 31, and the phone and web payments will be shut down at midnight also.”
