For many years, returning to the home track at Gateway Motorsports Park has been less than inviting for the MB Motorsports’ NASCAR Truck Series team.On Saturday, the Foristell-based team had a respectable finish to show in between downpours.Tyler Tanner wheeled the No. 63 Chevrolet to a 17th-place finish during the second annual Drivin’ for Linemen 200 race at Madison, Ill.The 24-year-old Tanner finished just one lap behind the leaders in the 200-lap race on the 1.25-mile track. He qualified 21st in the 32-truck field.In five races this year, Tanner has finished three times in the top 20. His best finish was 15th at Kansas on May 8.Justin Jennings drove the No. 36 Chevrolet as MB Motorsports fielded two entries in the race. He retired early with mechanical issues and was 29th. He completed just 26 laps. He had qualified 22nd.The start of the Truck Series race was delayed for nearly two hours due to a downpour coming through the St. Louis region.Cole Custer, in the No. 00 Chevrolet truck, captured his first win of the season and second of his career. He sat in fourth place with 10 laps left and then passed leader Tyler Reddick on a restart with five laps to go.Spencer Gallagher was second, followed by veteran Johnny Sauter. John H. Nemechek and Cameron Hayley rounded out the top five. The race featured nine lead changes and five different leaders.Pole-sitter Erik Jones led a race-high 84 laps, but a late accident relegated him to a 23rd-place finish. The starting lineup was determined from speeds from Friday’s lone practice session as rain canceled qualifying.Matt Crafton, who also wrecked late and finished 21st, continues to hold onto the points lead by 12 over Reddick.The Truck Series returns to action this Friday at Iowa Speedway in Newton, Iowa. The race will air live at 7:47 p.m. on Fox Sports 1.MB Motorsports will field two entries again, with Jake Griffin expected to drive the No. 63 truck and Jennings remaining in the No. 36 Chevrolet, according to an entry list. Griffin, a 16-year-old from Quincy, Ill., finished 26th in his series debut at Martinsville in March.
