Record Managing EditorThe tandem of Erin Tomschin and Jynna Fritz continues to lead the pack for the Wright City cross country team.Both runners earned medals Friday during the Bowling Green Invitational held at the Pike County Fairgrounds.Tomschin, a junior, placed fourth in 21 minutes, 18.96 seconds in the 3.1-mile race. Fritz, a senior, followed in sixth in 21:45.48.As a team, Wright City finished fifth overall out of 11 schools with 136 points. Finishing ahead was team champion Bowling Green (40 points), Christian (51), Elsberry (108) and Montgomery County (130).In the boys race, the Wildcats had five runners finish in the top 25 to help the squad place third with 89 points. Fulton won the team crown with 54 points, ahead of runner-up Orchard Farm (80).“The kids did a great job,” Head Coach Sue Wright said.Other girls running for Wright City were Courtney Lawson (29th, 24:10.5), Ashley Schulte (71st, 27:41.46), Zoe Pezold (81st, 29:14.80) and Sierra Shaw (87th, 30:47.08).In the boys race, Tristin Riley paced the Wildcats with a 15th-place finish in 18:50.05. Teammate Jacob Mueller followed in 16th in 18:50.20.Others who placed in the top 25 were Brice Reash (18th, 18:55.81), Stephon Norwood (20th, 18:59.67) and Nicholas Mueller (25th, 19:13.80). Also running in the race were Andrew McCracken (62nd, 20:47.33) and Arthur Ludwig (85th, 21:49.28).Friday’s meet was the final one for the regular season and Wright City will return to a familiar course this Saturday to begin the postseason.The Wildcats will compete in the Class 2, District 3 Meet in Bowling Green, the same course as Friday. The girls are scheduled to run at 10 a.m., followed by the boys race at 11:10 a.m. The top two teams and top 15 runners will qualify for sectionals.Wright City
