Scientific studies have shown tai chi to improve health, quality of life, and balance. The Arthritis Foundation USA supports Dr. Lam’s Tai Chi for Arthritis program as an intervention for fall prevention.“If we can help someone become physically stronger, we also help improve their flexibility and balance. If we can improve flexibility and balance, we are going to prevent falls. If we can prevent people from falling, they can live independently longer and reduce their overall health costs,” said Susan Mills-Gray, extension professor. As a form of exercise, it combines gentle physical exercise and stretching with mindfulness. Tai chi exercises the entire body, all the joints, muscles and internal organs and at the same time, strengthens the mind.Tai chi relieves stress and brings harmony to yourself and others. The fluid, gentle movements improve muscular strength, flexibility and fitness, as well as relaxation, balance, posture and immunity.Tai chi is easy to learn, safe and effective.University of Missouri Extension
