The Warrenton girls basketball team concluded its GAC Conference slate on Tuesday, routing Orchard Farm 51-28 for a second blowout over the Eagles this season.Sophomore Jenny Jansen led the Warriors with 19 points and 11 rebounds, while senior Hannah Sutton finished with nine points and broke the school record for career three-pointers with 142 total treys.Warrenton tore out to a 15-3 start with effective use of its man-to-man defense.Leading 29-8 by halftime, Coach Greg Williams decided to settle back into a zone.The Warriors were ahead 39-20 heading into the final period.The win improved Warrenton to 15-7 on the season, as the Warriors await their seed for the Class 4 District 8 Tournament which begins on March 2 at Kirksville High School.Warrenton finished 5-4 in league play, landing in third place behind St. Charles and St. Charles West, who accounted for the Warriors’ four losses.Warrenton 57, Winfield 38: The Warriors picked up a conference win on the road Friday, completing a sweep of Winfield.Warrenton led 16-7 after one quarter and 33-18 by halftime.The Warriors were particularly hot from beyond the arc, going eight of 12 on three-point attempts.Sutton led the way with 19 points, while Jansen added 14 points.SUTTON BREAKS RECORDDerrick Forsythe photo.
