A Wright City man believed to be one of the area’s leading heroin dealers was arrested recently by authorities, ending a major drug investigation. About 5:30 a.m. Monday, April 15, Wright City police executed a search at a residence in the 600 block of Cavalry Drive which resulted in the seizure of drugs and drug paraphernalia. Taken into custody was Robert E. Wray, 32. “He was definitely at the top of the food chain,” Detective Sgt. Tim Matthews told The Record. “He was moving a substantial amount of product.” At the time of his arrest, Wray was on parole, Matthews said. Wray pleaded guilty to felony drug charges in Lincoln County Circuit Court in 2008 and 2010. Wray currently faces one felony charge in Warren County Circuit Court for attempted distribution of a controlled substance and a misdemeanor charge for unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. Bond in the case was set at $25,000.During the course of the search, police discovered Wray was in possession of a spoon which allegedly contained a brown residue.
