Record Managing EditorA Warrenton man was arrested about three blocks from Dollar Tree minutes after allegedly robbing the store last Thursday, June 11.Warrenton Police Chief Greg Houdyshell said an eyewitness in the store at the time of the robbery provided a detailed description of what the suspect was wearing.The suspect, 26-year-old Daymon O. Wray Jr., of the 400 block of Southside Avenue in Warrenton, was arrested in the area of Highway M and Wabash. He was wearing an orange hooded sweatshirt and black pajama pants, police said.Wray was charged with first-degree robbery. He remains in the Warren County Jail on a $250,000 cash-only bond. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance June 24.“We had a great eyewitness that saw this happen,” Houdyshell said. “He gave us a perfect description of the bad guy. . . . It was the perfect scenario for us.”Police said Wray entered Dollar Tree, located at 702 E. Booneslick, around 3 p.m. He approached a store cashier and handed her a note announcing the robbery.The cashier asked if the suspect was serious and told police Wray reached into a pocket of his hoodie like he was reaching for a weapon, according to the probable cause statement.The cashier opened the register and gave Wray an undisclosed amount of money. He then fled the store on foot, police said.During an interview with police, Wray admitted to robbing the store and handing an employee a note, according to the probable cause statement.A note was located on Wray and read: This is not a joke! Do not make any noise or screen (sic) or I’ll shoot you! Give me all the money in the draw (sic). Do not call the cops for 15 mins or I’ll set the Bomb off outside!”Wray does not have any other previous felony convictions, according to online court records.Daymon Wray Jr.
