Wright City resident Joshua W. Thomure is facing felony charges after driving up to 120 mph to escape police, authorities said.A Wright City police officer reportedly spotted Thomure driving on Elm Street crossing over Interstate 70 around 11:30 a.m. June 6. According to police, Thomure’s driver license is currently revoked and he has several prior convictions for driving while revoked.The officer reported that when he signaled for Thomure to pull over near the intersection of Highway J and the North Outer Road, Thomure instead drove north on Highway J. Thomure allegedly passed three vehicles around a blind curve and accelerated up to 120 mph.Due to the substantial public safety risk of engaging in a prolonged, high-speed chase, the officer did not pursue further.Thomure was located by police on Wednesday, June 28, and placed under arrest. He is charged with driving while revoked and resisting arrest by fleeing in a manner that created a substantial risk of serious injury. Both charges are Class E felonies.After being taken to the Warren County Jail, Thomure was released on a $2,500 bond.Thomure was most recently convicted of driving while revoked when he pleaded guilty in January 2017. He was sentenced to two days in jail for that charge.Joshua Thomure
