New York financial technology company SmartAsset recently released a study on counties receiving the greatest amount of investments in their local economies. According to the study, Warren County was among the top places in Missouri. The study, which is based on data collected from the U.S. Census Bureau and other federal agencies, measured growth in local business, GDP growth, new residential construction and federal contracts awarded in each county. Warren County ranked ninth for overall incoming investments, most prominently because of the number of new home building permits being issued.Data analyzed by SmartAsset showed that over a three-year period ending in 2017, local governments in Warren County have issued about 18 new building permits per 1,000 existing homes. This was the second highest rate of new building permits in Missouri for the period studied, following behind Boone County.Examining other economic investments, the SmartAsset study indicates a slight decline in the number of new businesses being established over the three years studied, but shows $10 million in local GDP growth. The study also examined the amount of federal funding flowing into each county and determined a dollar amount per resident. Warren County received $18 per person, with more densely populated counties in the St. Louis and Kansas City regions receiving much more federal investment per person.Other nearby locales that were ranked in SmartAsset’s top 10 list for most incoming investments were St. Louis City at No. 1, Boone County at No. 2, and St. Charles County at No. 7.Warren County MO
