Record Managing EditorThree Wright City High School students were arrested last Thursday for breaking into the school and stealing electronic items valued at $1,750, according to authorities. The suspects were identified as 17-year-old Marcus A. Mese, of the 200 block of Kerland, Wright City, and two other teenage males. Their names are not being released because they are juveniles. They were arrested around 1:33 p.m. on the same day of the burglary.Prosecutors charged Mese with two felonies for second-degree burglary and stealing. He is being held in the Warren County Jail on a $20,000 bond. The two juveniles were transported to the St. Charles County Detention Center, police reported.School officials said all three suspects were enrolled in the district, but did not attend class regularly. The suspects were quickly identified thanks to surveillance video from inside the school and School Resource Officer Jeff Catron. Mese was identified by Catron based on clothing he had been seen wearing around school, according to the probable cause statement.“They made an attempt to disguise their faces, but they were identified,” Detective Randy Deatherage said.Wright City police reported the suspects gained entry through one of the high school’s doors around 12:30 a.m. They stole a laptop computer, camcorder, DVD player and a small amount of cash, according to the probable cause statement. The suspects also broke a window leading to the principal’s office and discharged a fire extinguisher, officials said.Once the suspects were identified, a search warrant was executed at one of the juveniles’ homes where all three students were located. All of the stolen items, with the exception of the money, were discovered in a bedroom along with the clothes they were wearing, according to a probable cause statement.R-II Superintendent Dr. David Buck complimented the investigation by the police.“The police department did a fantastic job,” Buck said. “It was clear to see all three kids in the building as they went through. I am very grateful for our partnership with the police department.”
