Strassenbash gets new logo to reflect changes

Say goodbye to the Strassenbash Festival’s dancing beer stein logo — there is a new Strassenbash symbol in Wright City. The caricature of the half man/half beer stein frozen in a dance pose has been replaced by a four-person family unit strolling under a carnival tent. The logo change from dancing beer stein to a family celebrating is a reflection of how the event has changed since it was first held 36 years ago, officials said.“Strassenbash has come a long way,” said Kelly Hill, president of the Wright City Area Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber created and hosts the annual fall event. This year it will be held Sept. 14-15 at the Wright City Lions Club.Hill said the Chamber wants more local people to attend, but also to create an event that attracts people from out of town. The idea is to show off the town and what it offers.Hill said the former logo didn’t accurately reflect, visually, the event’s family friendly attractions. The Chamber solicited design proposals through a website that provides competitions among artists. The Chamber posted candidates on its Facebook page where friends could vote for their favorite. The new logo is the one they selected.“Really, the community voted this,” Hill said. “We involved the community to make sure it was what they want.”This year, the Strassenbash Festival will have kid events, guest superheroes, a kids’ lunch, a petting zoo, carnival games, a car show, queen contest; more food and craft vendors than last year, and a repeat of the same popular events Strassenbash is known for.Hill said entertainment also will be added. There will be two main-stage bands, as usual, and also four bands playing in the beer gardens.Facebook has been a good tool for this year’s event. The Chamber used it to determine the event’s band lineup.Hill said 10,000 people went to the Chamber’s Facebook page to vote for Trixie Delight. The band plays covers from the ’80s and ’90s. Trixie Delight will perform Saturday night.

Strassenbash, an event hosted by the Wright City Area Chamber of Commerce, has a new logo this year.
