The annual Strassenbash festival returns Saturday at Diekroeger Park in Wright City with a whole host of activities for the entire family.
The festival runs from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., but Wright City Mayor Michelle Heiliger said the day’s activities will begin bright and early with a pancake and sausage breakfast at 7:30 a.m. at the Wright City Fire Protection District Headquarters, 396 West North Second St.
The annual parade, sponsored by the Heiliger Foundation, starts at 11 a.m., with lineup beginning at 10 a.m. on First Street. The theme for this year’s parade is “Viva Las Vegas.” Cash prizes will be awarded for the best floats: $250 for first place, $150 for second and $100 for third. Registration is not required.
According to Heiliger, there will be three live music acts throughout the day performing at the pavilion, with Mickey Scott kicking off the performances at 11:30 a.m., followed by Dawgs in the Smokehouse at 3 p.m., and Nash Vegas at 7 p.m.
The festival will include a kid’s corner with a variety of activities including a bounce house from noon to 5 p.m. There will also be a “Bubble Bus” from 2 to 5 p.m.
Other activities will include a face painter, caricature artist and balloon artist, which all begin at 1 p.m., Heiliger said. These activities will run from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The festival will also include a cornhole tournament with sign-ups starting at 11 a.m. The event is limited to 40 teams and will include a 100 percent payout plus a $500 add-in. There will also be a Texas Hold ‘Em tournament starting at noon in the Heiliger Building,
Heiliger said magician Jeff Lefton will also be performing at 2 p.m.

The beer garden will open at noon and is sponsored and staffed by Main Street Real Estate.
Heiliger said that starting at 9 a.m. the Service Road and Second Street will be closed to one-way traffic only.
