Wright City’s annual Strassenbash festival is this Saturday, Oct. 9, beginning with a pancake breakfast from 7:30-11 a.m. at the Wright City firehouse and then a parade through the downtown area at 11 a.m.
Starting at noon, activities will open at Diekroeger Park, including many attractions for children and families.
New this year are two “mad science” activities being hosted at the park. A mad science fire and ice show will be presented from noon to 12:45, and mad science slime making will be available from 1-2 p.m., where kids will be allowed to make and take home their own slime.
Two competitions are also being featured at Strassenbash:
• A cash-prize cornhole tournament with signup beginning at noon and play beginning at 12:45. To register, call 636-399-6516.
• A 80s-themed chili cook-off with a $400 first-place prize beginning at 3 p.m. For information and to register, call 636-745-2923.
At 3 p.m. there will be a dance party hosted by the characters Princess Anna and Captain America at the Diekroeger pavilion. At 7 p.m. there will be a live musical performance by My Friend Mike.
