The Marthasville Area Volunteer Fire Department responded to a kitchen fire Thursday, July 13, at approximately 3:30 p.m. Homeowner Kimberly Rucker was home at the time of the fire, but was not injured.
Rucker said she was cooking and the stove exploded into flames, catching the microwave and surrounding cabinets on fire. Rucker and her husband, Skyler, purchased the home on the 800 block of Northridge Drive in Marthasville last October.
Fire personnel were able to quickly douse the fire, but had to ventilate heavy smoke from the home.
Correction: A previous version of this story listed the location of the fire as Brookside Drive.
