A Wright City man was arrested Nov. 29 for alleged involvement in stealing from his neighbors, including a video game console tracked to a pawnshop in Hazelwood.
Authorities have accused Bradley D. Johnson, 29, of stealing items worth more than $1,200 from the homes of two neighbors on Appaloosa Way in Wright City. He is charged with a Class D felony in the Warren County Circuit Court, and is being held at the county jail in lieu of a $5,000 bond.
Police were called at 3:30 p.m. Nov. 21 by a homeowner whose rear door had been forced open and items taken. The homeowner said an Xbox One video game console had been taken, along with 10 video games and three large jars full of coins, according to a police report.
Police used the serial number of the Xbox to locate it at First Cash Pawn in Hazelwood. Surveillance video from the business reportedly showed a vehicle belonging to Johnson at the shop. A subject exited the vehicle, sold the Xbox in the pawnshop, then returned to the vehicle.
A victim at a second burglarized residence on Appaloosa Way reportedly told police that an Xbox One, three controllers, money and jewelry had been stolen.
Johnson was located by police and stated a friend had broken into the two houses. He allegedly admitted to transporting the stolen items in his vehicle to the pawn shop and a Gamestop store in St. Louis County.
Johnson has an arraignment scheduled for Dec. 13 at the Warren County Circuit Court. If convicted, he could face a prison sentence or significant fine.
